UPDATE: Man Identified in Deadly Downtown Scooter Crash - Local News Story - KJCT Grand Junction

How sad!

Grand Junction made news recently when an anti-Democrat billboard depicting President Obama in a number of crude ways was put up.  I am all for free speech but this billboard seemed unusually juvenile and hostile.  Especially because the person that paid for it was not willing to acknowledge that they put this message together.  That is what really made it seem objectionable to me.

Unfortunately the sad news, that probably does not always make national headlines, is a local man, a well-known and well-liked man died the other night.  Some of my local friends and I were driving around the area and we decided to make a detour when we saw several police cars lined up with their lights flashing.  Here is the story that describes what happened.

Such a tragedy.  Just the type of thing that gets people angry and hurt and looking to assign blame and try to mete out a punishment.  I am not even going to touch the subject of who might be to blame; I am sorry that a man, that I had some brief contact with, was killed.  Certainly not on purpose.

Nothing will really solve that.
